Procedure for New Teachers

Step 1 - Apply Online

Teachers Council accepts applications year-round for new teaching positions. Fill out our online application form and a staff member will review your credentials. You will either be preliminarily approved or preliminarily disqualified based on your academic credentials and work experience. If you are not approved, it is most likely because you do not meet the minimum requirements of our program. You may re-apply later if you complete additional education.

Step 2 - Submit Documents

Next you should send us your documents for further review. These documents include:

  • Your Resume (You can find a sample resume format in the "Resources / Links" section)
  • Photocopies of all degrees and diplomas you have earned
  • Photocopies of all transcripts you have earned
  • Your teaching certificate in your home country
  • Your TOEFL and Praxis test scores, if applicable
  • Any teaching certification test scores from prior visits to the US , if applicable

You can e-mail these documents to info@teacherscouncil.com, or you can fax them to 410-990-4419.

Step 3 - Complete a Transcript Evaluation

TC staff will review your credentials closely. If you are selected for further processing, you will be asked to complete an evaluation of your foreign education to show its US equivalency. You will need to submit your sealed transcripts to TC and make a payment for the transcript evaluation.

Step 4 - Interview with a School/International Job Fairs

TC will submit your resume and transcript evaluation to various schools in the US . If you are selected by a school for an interview, TC staff will coordinate a phone or webcam interview. We will provide additional instructions and resources at that time.

In some cases, TC may be able to arrange job fairs in your country where you can interview with many US schools in person. Keep checking our website and your e-mail for updates. We will invite all qualified teachers to attend our job fairs whenever plans are made!

Step 5 - Visa Processing

If you pass an interview and a school makes a job offer to you, TC will arrange for a legal counsel to obtain an appropriate work visa. You will need to meet all the requirements of the visa application and provide any required government fees. Depending on the school, you may also be required to complete teaching certification requirements, such as an application or a test.

Step 6 - Relocation

When your work visa is approved, TC will provide assistance for you to come to the US . It is important that you maintain clear communication with TC during this stage. Follow all instructions closely so that you can arrive at the specific date, time, and location requested by your school.

Step 7 - Excel in Your New Career!

We know that you will succeed in your new position because of our tremendous success in the past! If you have any questions about immigration assistance or other requirements, you can contact us at any time.
